Annyong
Life in South Korea

And then there was blog…

Hey everybody.

Welcome to my Jeonju blog (my city in South Korea).  First of all, I should get it out there that I hate blogs and almost everyone who has one  (What makes you so freakin’ interesting that you feel the need to write down every painful detail?).  Does this make me a hypocrite?  Of course!  BUT, I hate writing mass emails even more than I hate blogs, so I figured I’d go with a blog.  I did this for you, my friends, and here’s why:  This way, if you actually care about my fascinating year in Korea, you can check out this site every once-in-a-while at your leisure.  If not, you won’t receive any emails from me that make you feel a) obligated to read and b) guilty for not replying to.  So there you have it.  You’re welcome.

I just joined this site and I am figuring out how to actually put all this together in a format that doesn’t make you want to claw your eyes out when you see it.  So bear with me for these first few weeks.  It’ll get better.  Or else I’ll get bored and give up.  I promise.

In the meantime, if you’re reading something, please let me know by leaving a short comment.  It’s always nice to know that what you’re doing isn’t pointless.  Plus, it’d be cool to hear from you, even if it’s just a quick hello.   If you’re curious about life in Jeonju and don’t want to wait around for me to post some of the details, check out my neighbour Rick’s blog.  It has a lot of great stuff about where we live and life in Korea in general.  And yes, I’m totally ripping off his idea (Rick, if you’re reading this remember immitation is the sincerest form of flattery).

Oh yeah, if you don’t know what “Annyong” means, that tells me 2 things about you.  1) you don’t know any Korean people and 2) you don’t watch Arrested Development.   (It means ‘hello’)

Cheers everyone,

-A.
